A popular Columbia University bar was fined for underage drinking last week. A 19-year-old police recruit was served by a bartender at 1020 Bar, a popular hangout for students. The bar was fined $1,500 and faces a possible revocation of its liquor license. One of 1020's bartenders said the 19-year-old "looked like he as thirty-five."
What's the lesson here?
ALWAYS check the drivers license of EVERY patron. You can never be too careful. Had this bartender asked for the police recruit's ID, he would have prevented the $1,500 fine his bar must pay and possible loss of its alcohol license. A little prevention goes a long way.
