BCS is pleased to announce the release of our camera based ID scanner app. You can now use the camera on your iPhone 5 or iPod 5 to scan barcode drivers licenses.
We currently support the iPhone 5/5C/5S and iPod 5 32GB and 64GB (those with rear facing cameras). An iPad version will be out soon with an Android version to follow. If you want read magnetic stripe IDs you will need to get our scanner attachment.
Why are we coming out with a camera version of our app now? Drivers licenses with only magnetic stripes have not been issued since 2010, and these older licenses will be totally off the market soon. Many states still have both a magnetic stripe and barcode (TX, CA, FL, PA).
UPDATE: Our iPad camera ID scanner is now available on newer iPad models. Older iPad camera's are not good enough to scan IDs.
