The New York Police Department has recently been cracking down on underage drinking in Washington Heights. Once caught the bar can pay the fine, or purchase an ID scanner and/or add extra security. However, bars owners in the area are crying foul. They believe they are being unfairly targeted by the police.
This perplexes us. Obtaining your liquor license and selling alcohol is a privilege, not a right. Part of that privilege is ensuring that minors are not served your product. How hard is it to check a driver's license? Is that really too much to ask?
